52-minute documentary – France 5
We find the Step By Step productions teams for a shoot on trains around the world. After Colombia and Costa Rica, Panama!
This « small » country of 75,000 km² is known worldwide for its incredible canal that connects the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean. In particular, it avoids the need for ships to pass through the southern tip of Latin America. This saves them several weeks of travel.
It is also the country with the largest proportion of its area covered by national parks. This country has an incredible diversity of landscapes. A thick rainforest, volcanoes and mountains culminating at nearly 3,500 m altitude and spectacular archipelagos with crystal clear waters.
The capital, Panama City, is like the rest of the country, extremely contrasted. On the one hand, the very beautiful colonial district (Casco Viejo) which has preserved its traditional atmosphere and on the other hand the ultra-modern business district with the tallest buildings in Latin America.
It is in the company of Philippe Gougler that we set off to discover this astonishing country in an eclectic way. Finally, this adventure took us from the Sky Buildings of Panama City to the San Blas Islands, via the Panama Canal.
