Trains like no other
For over 7 years now, we’ve been lucky enough to participate in the production of a few episodes of the famous documentary series Des trains pas comme les autres. This program, presented for the past 12 years by globe-trotter Philippe Gougler, takes viewers to the most incredible places on the planet, on every continent.
Not every country has a rail network as well-developed as the one we have in Europe… Which is not to say that there are no trains at all! Often, in developing countries, system D prevails. Existing rails are used, often in completely unusual ways, to run a whole host of vehicles, each more improbable than the last… Hence the title of the show: Des trains pas comme les autres!
Philippe Gougler takes advantage of the places where he arrives with these vehicles to immerse himself in the local culture, introducing us to the country’s traditions, customs and unusual situations. All this, in a good-natured and genuinely empathetic atmosphere, contributes to the success year after year of this emblematic France 5 program, which regularly attracts between 1.2 and 1.5 million viewers (excluding replay) per episode.
